I have the original Arista Stealin' Horses album on LP and I've played it so much over the years it now skips on "Turnaround". I've spent the better part of today listening to the Wishing Chair catalog on Rhapsody and I have to say I enjoyed just about every song. Wow I'm flashing back. I looked at your upcoming live dates & I see that you'll be performing in Germantown, Md. soon. I actually lived in Germantown years ago & its still not too far away. I look forward to catching your live act, but I'm not familiar with the venue listed. Do you still do any Stealin' Horses song in concert? See you soon.

February 10, 2008

I bought a Stealin Horses CD about 15 years ago and fell in love with it. I still play it often. I played it one night at a poker game and the guys loved it as well. I haven't heard any Wishing Chair yet, but, now that I know about you, I will be. If your ever near Kansas City, I'll plan to see your show. Keep on Folkin.

Great job tonight -- I really enjoyed your performance.

I really like all the songs I've heard of yours so far - would love to catch you live but it doesn't look like you're coming to the NY/CT area any time soon, alas. :) If you care to, maybe investigate the Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT as a potential performance venue? :) Its a nice(if tiny) place, though Bridgeport isnt so much .. ;) Alternately, check out the Towne Crier Cafe in Pawling, NY. Anyway best wishes and happy holidays.

Kiya,
I LOVED hearing you at the Village Cup on Saturday night in Laurens. It was great to meet you and I ust tell you that you even impressed my 11 year old with your musical ability. Impressing an 11 year old is quite a feat. :)
Can't wait to see you on Jan. 6th. It's my daughter's birthday that day so we're planning to have a party beforehand and bring the guests to the show afterwards.

I just wanted to take this chance to tell you how much I love your music. a friend of mine loaned me his CDs two Decembers ago, and I became an instant fan. Hey ya'll, thanks for the awesome show this past weekend! We had so much fun! It's really awesome just to sit in the audience and listen to the two of you, and sing along. :-) Your energy radiates out to everyone present. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes serious. But it's easy to see your souls come across in the way you play. I loved the Sago Mine song. It's amazing how one simple song can speak volumes! I can't wait to see you again. Hugs, K & C

Concert tonight was wonderful! My whole family enjoyed it - Ed (the older gentleman who looked like he was sleeping) is an old banjo player and talked about the concert the whole way home. Taliacyn wants to be Miriam when she grows up! Thanks for coming back to Colorado - anytime you are in the area just remember that my house always has plenty of room for a good night's sleep as well as a nice house concert. i was fortunate to be in attendance at the unitarian universalist church in spartanburg, sc last sunday when you were there. your performance of "fieldtown road construction" during the service was gorgeous. i'll always remember how the piano, guitar, and your voices meshed and blended and filled the room and blessed us all. thank you for sharing your music. you have a new fan!

Kiya

August 14, 2006

We want to thank you all for writing us . The best way to help promote our music in your area is to talk to your friends and the bookers at the folk clubs that feature our style of original music. It really helps us when you suggest places we should play. We can follow up and talk to the right people and get to your town soon. Another option is hosting a house or church concert. If you need more information on this option or putting on a small concert sounds fun to you, just write us at wc@wishingchair.com and we can cuss and discuss it!

Thanks again for all your support!

Hi...we just heard you this morning in Spartanburg SC at the UU church concert. Thankyou so much for sharing your music ( and your hats! *grin* ) with us! There are a number of venues in this area that I would love to bring Wishing Chair to their attention, both in Greenville SC and Asheville NC...I hope that there is a way to get your music heard in the SC, NC area more often!!
Thanks again!
Hannah and Cyndi.

August 8, 2006

O.k., I just got my hands on a copy of "Will Harbut" and now I really must ask: what's a useful way to promote Wishing Chair's music? I live in the Boston/Cambridge-area ("Folk Mecca"), and you guys should be much better known in this region! We *love* our folk music here; we boast the only all folk radio station in the USA, WUMB 91.9 FM. Whenever I share your music with people, they immediately ask why they haven't heard of Wishing Chair before (mind you, these are folks who hang out at places like Club Passim all the time!). Any suggestions for how I can help create a buzz for you in these parts would be much appreciated!

July 26, 2006

Come play in Al some time. I wish you had a cd that included your stories with the songs. You have a natural ability to draw people in with the background. I though Mirium was unbelievable in the way she brought the music to Life, we would love to hear her do a solo. From the Gulf-Girls in Al that really needed to hear your refreshing music last night. Deb

Misti

July 26, 2006

It was great to hear the both of you play at the Blue Bird Cafe. Mirium could just see the way you moved and was so intune she knew what instrument to play, Hiyya it was great to see someone play with so much emotion that it was obvious you tore every song up! Both of you have been playing so long that not only the passion for what your doing shows but the commitment to make the fans happy. I wish Deb & I could have had a chance to get to know both of you but we all had to leave quickly back to muscle shoals Al and your bus was waiting. So next time your there stick around awhile. Look forward to hearing this great dual another time. Misti

Hiyya, I was given an older tape of yours by a friend several years ago. Never heard of you guys before then (you've never performed in Ottawa Canada!). You guys gotta come up here, or at least to Vermont so I can see you live, and shere your beautiful voices with others! Thanks for the wonderful sounds... :)

I recently found an old CD from 1998 and that was the first time that I had heard you guys, I was home on leave from the US Army and I have carried that CD all over the world and back and it was just a great reminder of where I came from. I grew up in Lexington and listening to you guys was a lovely taste from home, I don't think that you realise what an impact you have on folks, Keep up the great job. I've recently parted with the military and reside in Columbus Ohio as Federal Police Officer and I've seen your schedule and I hope to catch one of your show when you pass through.
Best wishes from a home town boy

Just came across your music and it's terrific! Hope you guys can make a tour stop in the Boston-area soon. Also wanted to suggest a music festival that I think would fit Wishing Chair to a "T". It's the "Rhythm & Roots Festival" held in Rhode Island every September:

Hello again Kiya and Miriam,
You'll never guess who this is, almost a year later. It's Chris..think back to last summer's NGW. =) Your techniques and your adivce from last summer has done wonders for my songwriting...I have roughly 80 songs now. =D I also am in my 2nd semester at junior college and I have a part time job at a video store...bout six months or so now is how long I've been there. I still pop some Wishing Cair into my car on my way to school and to work when my mind is clear and I'm feeling free on that open highway. =) I'm hoping to get to go to NGW this year and say hello, if I can get the time off...if not, thre's always next summer.

I hope all is well with the pair of you, and I hope to see you again, maybe even jam again.

Thanks again for opena new set of doors to my musicianship,
Chris G

Hopefully I can get to see you guys in concert. I lisetned to your new album, which I really love.

A "best of" seems to be calling out. My sincere hope is that ya'll haven't blessed us with that yet. I suspect the best is yet to come. You 2 have blessed us for a decade with your incredible gifts -- how about a 10th Anniversary CD? What a party that could be!! i'll bake the cake.

December 17, 2005

Yeah, but Anna, you still have to choose the songs. And some of us need CD's, not iPods.

Anna

December 15, 2005

I can cram about 20 songs on a 80min blank disc. I think two of those might cover it. :)

Forget the "best of" album -- you should have a special iPod with all of your songs loaded on it. Then you'd only need to decide on the case color.

Connie

December 12, 2005

I was thinking that myself. There's too much good music here

Jenrose

December 11, 2005

If you ask me, it would have to be a double album...

Connie

December 2, 2005

You are kidding! All that beautiful music and you want me to pick 12? And I don't even own all the CDs yet. Let me get back to you after Santa pays a visit and I have all six. 12 songs. Lets see.....

I am learning to play a guitar just like you. I am going to make my dream come true and play music like you. I have a guitar and I saved the sticker and CD. I remember everything you said to me. I am saving your autograph. And I am playing very good. I play with your music just starting now. Would you like to hear my music? I'll make my first CD when my mom figures out how. Thank you for singing to us tonight and helping me find music. Love, Elijah

November 18, 2005

I'm late, but... Saw you two at the LBA and really enjoyed the set. I used to come see you in the church basement in Yellow Springs, and haven't seen you for a while. You just get better and better. :)

Connie

November 13, 2005

Ladies-I ordered and received your UNDERDOG CD this weekend. I've been playing it ever since. You make such beautiful music. When you were here in Denver my sweetie decided to watch football instead of coming to enjoy you. She laughs and laughs at BULLY CIRCUS and I think she regrets just a tiny little bit not coming to the concert.
I was interested to hear that Kiya played bass drum in marching band in high school. This is something that I also did. But the big difference is probly that I was about 4'11" and weighed about 100 lbs. But we'd strap on that drum, I'd watch the band director(I was always on the right side so that I could see him) listen for the drum major's whistles and away we'd go. Most of the time I had no ieda where we were, but since I played the BIG BASS DRUM, everyone marched to my beat!lol.
I have promised myself that I would never ever visit my sister in Phoenix in September again. I may have to change my plans.
You all drive carefully, have fun, play wonderfully, love largely and have a happy thanksgiving. Be safe. Connie

Hi you two,

I'm in the Denver Women's Chorus and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed singing with and listening to you both. You've done it! Now I'm hopelessly hooked on your music, and am completely impressed with your originality and musicianship. I have one question for Kiya (should've asked you this when you were here). I love playing fingerstyle guitar and wondered how you developed your style and who you possibly used as a guide to practice with.

Thanks, you're both excellent!

Kelly
